Individual Therapy

During an individual therapy session, the client and clinician meet one-on-one for fifty minutes to one hour. These meetings typically occur weekly or every other week. Sessions are conducted in a confidential and supportive environment. The amount of time spent in therapy depends on the needs of the client as well as their personal goals. The type of intervention(s) implemented in therapy depends on the client’s needs and the therapist’s training. A few of the interventions we utilize here include psychotherapists such as EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy. We also utilize interventions from the humanistic approach, such as existential therapy, Gestalt therapy, and person-centered approach. Some clients express a desire to use third wave therapies which include Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy etc. Because we tailor our approach, we find that not everyone communicates feelings verbally, therefore, we also use expressive therapies such as art or sand tray therapies to reach our goals in therapy.

Couples and Family Therapy

Even the healthiest of couples and families experience some degree of conflict in their lives. The secret is to address those issues head-on and not let your less-loving interactions define you. In couples and family therapy sessions, you can gain insight into your relationship dynamics, stop conflicts before they start, and repair any lingering emotional wounds or traumas. First, your therapist will assess your relationship and work with both of you to establish meaningful goals by meeting with each of you individually and together as a couple. Based on what is learned in those initial sessions, the therapist will create a treatment plan for getting your relationship to a healthier place. Together the family will work on creating that plan, so everyone can be clear on what you all would like to achieve and how to get there. The interventions we employ during these sessions include The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Psychoeducational Classes

Psychoeducational groups are a form of group therapy that is less focused on developing relationships between clients, and instead, focused on providing education through information-sharing and the development of healthy coping mechanisms. Members of a psychoeducational group often share similar circumstances which allows the group to focus on a specific set of needs and unique topics. Feelings of isolation and loneliness can be reduced through attendance, especially as clients begin to realize that their problems are not theirs alone. In these sessions, group members are able to learn about their needs and practice new skills in a safe environment surrounded by people who more readily relate to their experiences.
